Dr. Carlos McCray<\/a>, Professor in the\u00a0Educational Leadership<\/a> Department recently did an interview with WFMZ out of Lehigh Valley regarding how Pennsylvania and New Jersey are dealing with the teacher shortage, as the nationwide shortage is putting a strain on those states.<\/p>\n He noted this means an “increase in class sizes, and, also, teachers teaching in subjects that they are really maybe uncomfortable with.”<\/p>\n As districts have been successful in recruiting people from other fields to make a career change to teaching, Dr. McCray stated that “the research has indicated that they actually make really good teachers.” He added, “It’s a wonderful profession. It’s an honorable profession. It’s a profession where you get to help people.”<\/p>\n
