The goals of this program are to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide a common intellectual experience<\/li>\n<li>Engage in interdisciplinary dialogue and debate<\/li>\n<li>Build community around a shared understanding of relevant issues<\/li>\n<li>Celebrate the written word<\/li>\n<li>Offer opportunities for students to reflect on their roles as readers and learners<\/li>\n<li>Encourage campus-wide engagement with the book\u2019s theme<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"prpl-column one-third\">\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/center-for-writing-excellence\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/209\/2019\/03\/mbposter2013small.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/center-for-writing-excellence\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/209\/2019\/03\/mbposter2013small.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\" alt=\"Montclair Book 2013 poster\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>For our third selection, the Montclair Book Faculty Advisory Committee chose <em>The Devil&#8217;s Highway<\/em>, by Luis Alberto Urrea.
