No organization may receive Project Grant funding for the same project<span class=\"details\">\u00a0for more than three consecutive fiscal years.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><strong>Applicant Type<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Commercial<\/li>\n<li>Government<\/li>\n<li>Nonprofit<\/li>\n<li>Small Business<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Citizenship or Residency:\u00a0<\/strong>United States<\/p>\n<p><strong>Activity Location:\u00a0<\/strong>New Jersey<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The goal of the grant program is to engage diverse audiences in the active exploration, enjoyment, interpretation, understanding, and preservation of\u00a0New\u00a0Jersey\u00a0history .<\/p>\n<p>Grants are awarded to projects that achieve<span class=\"details\">\u00a0this objective. Successful proposals may do so through one or more of the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"details\">Broadening, deepening, and diversifying the audiences for\u00a0New\u00a0Jersey\u00a0history<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Strengthening existing\u00a0New\u00a0Jersey\u00a0history organizations or programs<\/li>\n<li>Initiating\u00a0new\u00a0programming on\u00a0New\u00a0Jersey\u00a0history<\/li>\n<li>Increasing accessibility of\u00a0historical\u00a0resources to diverse communities<\/li>\n<li>Increasing the body and quality of information on\u00a0New\u00a0Jersey\u00a0history available to the public<\/li>\n<li>Preserving materials for the study of\u00a0New\u00a0Jersey\u00a0history<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Project grants are available to both individuals and organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible applicants include a wide variety of organizations, both public and private. If the mission of an organization does not exclusively focus on<span class=\"details\">\u00a0New\u00a0Jersey\u00a0history, it is essential that those applicants demonstrate the existence of and a commitment to both a\u00a0historical\u00a0mission and a viable program of public service to\u00a0New\u00a0Jersey\u00a0history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In order to apply directly to the NJHC for FY 2021 project funding, history organizations must meet the following criteria:<br \/>\n1. Have an annual operating budget of at least $100,000 in non-state history funds. This budget figure should be based on income received for the applicant&#8217;s most recently completed fiscal year.<br \/>\n2. Document that at least 25 percent of its audience (both virtual and actual) comes from beyond a 20-mile radius from its headquarters location.<br \/>\n3. Be in good standing with the NJHC, i.e. no overdue or unfulfilled contractual obligations from prior fiscal years.<\/p>\n<p>Organizations with budgets under $100,000 may partner together to meet the budget and audience threshold on eligible\u00a0New\u00a0Jersey\u00a0history projects<\/p>\n<p>Organizations may only apply for Project Grant support from either the NJHC or their designated county re-grant agency (CHPP) in any calendar year. Organizations with budgets under $100,000 may still apply for Project Grant support from the NJHC and GOS support from their county re-grant agency in the same calendar year.<\/p>\n<p>If an organization has more than one division and a budget in excess of $500,000, each division is treated as a separate organization and may apply separately. No organization may submit more than three unique applications for divisions\/agencies under its purview in a single fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The NJHC requires that applicants submit a\u00a0<strong>Declaration of Intent<\/strong>\u00a0online prior to submitting an application.<\/p>\n<p>Applications and Declarations of Intent will be filed electronically using the\u00a0<a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/njsage.intelligrants.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">System for Administering Grants Electronically (SAGE)<\/a>. All new applicants are strongly encouraged to register for SAGE at least one week in advance of upcoming grant deadlines. If you are having any difficulties registering for SAGE, please contact the Commission immediately at 609-292-6062.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Funding for expenses of specific projects relating to New Jersey history.
