The book of criticism examines how works of art such as poetry and popular music, can serve as essential tools for living. <\/p>\n<p><!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>The book was reviewed by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/magazine\/2017\/07\/31\/can-poetry-change-your-life\" target=\"_blank\">Louis Menand for the July 31, 2017 edition of <em>The New Yorker<\/em> under the title: &quot;The Defense of Poetry<\/a>.&quot;  <\/p>\n<p>Robbins is also the author of the poetry collections&nbsp;<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/310036\/alien-vs-predator-by-michael-robbins\/9780143120353\/\" target=\"_blank\">Alien vs. Predator<\/a><\/em> (2012) and<em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/316810\/the-second-sex-by-michael-robbins\/9780143126645\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Second Sex<\/a><\/em> (2014).
