As of January 25, 2025, the Spring 2025 list of scholarships is now available below and on the department webpage <\/a>for all students of Italian. Please note that the deadline for the submission of the application is Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 5pm. The Italian program strongly encourages Italian majors, double majors and minors, MAT-ITAL, and Language, Business, and Culture (Italian) majors to take advantage of the scholarships offered below. A special thank you to Dr. Gina Miele <\/a>for all the hard work through her service as head of the Scholarship Committee!<\/p>\n Deadline: February 23, 2025 at 5 pm.<\/strong> Application: Italian Scholarships & Internships 2024-25<\/a><\/p>\n * Award priority will be given to students who have declared or intend to declare the Italian major, double major, minor, or MAT. Students who intend to declare an Italian major or minor should submit the appropriate form to mieleg@montclair.edu<\/a><\/a>. Unless otherwise noted, scholarships will be deposited directly to the recipient’s university account.<\/p>\n 1. The Cav. Joseph Coccia, Jr. Memorial Intermediate Italian Scholarships (2 for $500).<\/strong><\/p>\n 2. Coccia Foundation Award for Italian Major or MAT Candidate of High Achievement (1 for $1,000 or 2 for $500).<\/strong><\/p>\n 3. Italian American Club of Four Seasons of Great Notch Student Achievement Award (2 for $500).<\/strong><\/p>\n 4. The Italian Program, in conjunction with the Joseph and Elda Coccia Institute for the Italian Experience in America, and the Inserra Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies is pleased to announce two Italian Internships for the 2025-26 academic year.<\/strong><\/p>\n For each internship, we seek a motivated Italian Major or Minor enrolled in the 2025-26 academic year to assist the Director of the Coccia Institute and the Italian faculty for seven hours per week. Duties include assisting the Coccia Institute with administrative, social media, and programming tasks. Responsibilities also include assisting the Italian Faculty with tasks such as grading and other informal assessments, preparing materials for the Italian language program, and tutoring and engaging with students during and outside of class time using technological tools.<\/p>\n Intern Responsibilities:<\/p>\n – Report directly to the Coccia Program Coordinator (and Director when necessary);<\/p>\n – Assist in the planning and execution of events (including the annual Teaching Italian Symposium for Fall interns and Italian Scholarship & Awards Ceremony for Spring interns, as well as new programming initiatives);<\/p>\n – Design and create social media posts that align to specific campaigns;<\/p>\n – Contribute research to the production of Sprague Library\u2019s Coccia Italian American Collection and the Coccia Menu Collection;<\/p>\n – Perform general administrative duties including creating spreadsheets, corresponding to emails, and reviewing memos\/reports;<\/p>\n – Conduct research\/data for topics of interest regarding Italian and Italian American culture to be used in short blog posts;<\/p>\n – Perform other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n Payment for each internship will be awarded to the recipient at the end of the semester upon completion of duties. Passaic Valley Chapter of UNICO Award for Study Abroad 2025-2026<\/strong><\/p>\n ELIGIBILITY:<\/p>\n 1. Proof of enrollment must be provided prior to issuing the scholarship award check. The candidate must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
