Softphone Installation & Setup Guide (Microsoft Windows)<\/h2>\n

The softphone solution is located in Software Center on your University laptop. Type \u2018avaya\u2019 into the search bar to find the software.\u00a0 For detailed instructions on how to download and install software, visit the following link on our Information Technology portal: Software Center<\/a><\/p>\n

Please note<\/strong>:
\nIn order to use the Softphone solution, you must be logged in to the 精品成人福利在线 University VPN. <\/span>You must also have received important information from Telecom which will be sent once you have filled out the
online activation form<\/a><\/strong> and selected ‘Softphone’.<\/p>\n

Installation<\/h2>\n

The ServiceDesk is able to install this software on your device. If you prefer to install the software on your own, please follow the directions below.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 1:<\/h3>\n

Search for \u2018avaya\u2019 in Software Center and download the application to your laptop.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/h3>\n

Choose \u201cEnglish (United States)\u201d and click Next, then click Next in the following window<\/p>\n

Step 3:<\/h3>\n

Select \u201cI accept\u2026:, then click Next<\/p>\n

\"Install<\/figure>\n

Step 4:<\/h3>\n

Select \u2018Custom\u2019, then click Next.<\/p>\n

\"Avaya<\/figure>\n

Step 5:<\/h3>\n

Deselect \u2018Avaya Collaboration Service, and select ONLY \u2018Avaya one-X Communicator\u2019, then click Next.<\/p>\n

Step 6:<\/h3>\n

Click on Install<\/p>\n

Step 7:<\/h3>\n

Once the installation has completed, please click on Finish. You will now have an Avaya one-X icon on your desktop.<\/p>\n

Advanced Setup and Configuration<\/h2>\n

**The Telecom department, along with the DIT ServiceDesk can work with you on these advanced settings.<\/span>**<\/p>\n

Step 1:<\/h3>\n

Double click the Avaya one-X icon on your desktop, and then select “Telephony Setup”.
\nClick Next.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/h3>\n

Select \u2018H.323\u2019 under Telephony Setup. Please make sure that SIP is not selected.
\nClick Next.<\/p>\n

Step 3:<\/h3>\n

Enter the following information:<\/p>\n

Extension: \/\/this will be your University extension\/\/
\nPassword: The password will be sent to you once the online activation form<\/a> has been filled out and softphone has been selected.\u00a0 If you have not received the password, please send an email to itservicedesk@montclair.edu, <\/a>attention: Telecom to receive your password.<\/p>\n

Server list: Click Add, and enter 172.19.0.17 for the server address
\nClick on OK.<\/p>\n

Step 4:<\/h3>\n

Leave all options blank and click Next<\/p>\n

Step 5:<\/h3>\n

Select \u2018This Computer\u2019 and then click Next<\/p>\n

Step 6:<\/h3>\n

Please make sure that \u201cEnable Emergency Call Handling Feature\u201d and \u201cYour extension number\u201d are selected.
\nIf these options are not selected, please make sure you select these items.<\/p>\n

Step 7:<\/h3>\n

Click on Next, and then click on Finish in the next window.
\nClick on following window.<\/p>\n

The software will shutdown at this point to save the configurations.<\/em>
\nDouble click the \u2018Avaya one-X Communicator\u2019 icon to restart the software.<\/p>\n

Step 8:<\/h3>\n

If you have not already entered your University extension, please enter the following:
\nExtension<\/strong>: your 4-digit University extension
\nPassword<\/strong>: please send an email to itservicedesk@montclair.edu<\/a> to receive your password.<\/p>\n

Please make sure that \u2018Place and receive calls using\u2019 shows \u2018This Computer\u2019 and then click on the Log In button
\n**You must be connected to the University VPN to use this application remotely**<\/p>\n

Step 9:<\/h3>\n

This next window will alert you that you are taking over your physical extension in the office. \u00a0 Click \u2018Yes\u2019 on the pop-up window.<\/p>\n

\"Login<\/figure>\n

Step 10:<\/h3>\n

Deselect the option for video calling to dismiss the”Video Calling Not Available”<\/p>\n

\"Video<\/figure>\n

Click on the OK button.<\/p>\n

While logged in, click on the Cog\/Wheel located on the upper right corner.<\/p>\n

Click on \u2018Settings\u2019 and then slide over to select \u2018General Settings\u2019 from the menu<\/p>\n

Step 11:<\/h3>\n

In the General Settings window, click on \u2018Dialing Rules\u2019 located on the left column under “Devices and Services”
\nPlease change the following parameters:
\n\u201cNumber to dial to access an outside line:\u201d Enter 9
\nNext to”Number to dial for long distance calls:\u201d please make sure that a 1 is in the field.<\/p>\n

The softphone is now ready for use.
