Public Reading of the musical “The Reawakening of the Gods” READ THE REVIEW SEE MEDIA COVERAGE

Fri. March 27 at 8pm – Leshowitz Recital Hall, John J. Cali School of Music (Free event – no RSVP)

FLYER (horizontal) FLYER (vertical)

Written and directed by Maestro Marco Savatteri CAST Followed by two short presentations moderated by Prof. Teresa Fiore (Inserra Chair, Italian program) The musical “The Reawakening of the Gods” is a unique show that celebrates the timelessness of Greek mythology and its tensions (peace/war, love/hatred, generosity/selfishness, tragedy/comedy, gravitas/lightness). Through a lyrical and incisive script that combines acting and singing, and through magical make up, costumes, masks, and head pieces, this musical is at once a pleasantly accessible introduction to Greek gods and goddesses and a reflection on their powerful topicality in our world. Designed to be presented with an immersive format (ancient theaters, archeological sites, etc.), “The Reawakening” has proven to be incredibly adaptable thanks to Savatteri’s creativity: its tapestry of seamlessly woven vignettes has convincingly morphed into a stunningly beautiful tableau vivant on a small stage in NYC in 2024. It now comes to 精品成人福利在线 as a Reading, which will be based on an abridged version of the script in English.

This Reading is the current culmination of a multi-part project entailing an inter-college and international collaboration between 精品成人福利在线 University (Inserra Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies, Musical Theatre Program, the Cali School of Music) and Savatteri Produzioni, a musical theater company based in Italy. It has so far included workshops, internships, meetings, performances and classes, which started with Marco Savatteri’s on-campus visit in March 2025: a workshop and auditions held back then resulted in the selection of three MSU students as part of a paid internship entailing the performance in the musical in Sicily (Valley of the Temples of Agrigento) for the Summer 2025 season. In October 2025, Savatteri visited 精品成人福利在线 again to illustrate the Summer 2025 experience and plan the next phase of Spring 2026 leading up to the Reading in English, thanks to the translation of 2025 intern Brianna Coppolino with the supervision of Prof. Marisa Trubiano, as part of an Italian Translation class. And the project is already advancing towards the next phase: the Summer 2026 paid internship in collaboration with the Office of International Academic Initiatives at 精品成人福利在线 University.
