Paterson One Square Mile will use strategically organized community engagement e\ufb00orts focused on a bounded area within the city of Paterson. This community-led collective impact approach aims to improve outcomes in health, education, and economic opportunity for the residents of Paterson.<\/p>\n<h2>Where is Paterson One Square Mile located?<\/h2>\n<p>The northwest corner of the Paterson One Square Mile boundary begins at the intersection of Lafayette Street and Straight Street. When the Paterson One Square Mile Advisory Committee met for the \ufb01rst time, they agreed with the 4th Ward and voiced areas of the 1st and 5th Wards too. Breaking the Cycle provides court-involved and formerly incarcerated individuals with transitional job training opportunities. Areas of focus include: Energy Efficient Building Maintenance and Culinary Arts. Initiate a long-term e\ufb00ort of commitment with community leaders to \ufb01nd the gaps that needs support from all stakeholders to create a positive collective impact by joining forces.<\/p>\n<h2>What are some immediate wins for the residents?<\/h2>\n<p>So far, residents have had the win of being heard. Over 300 people have spoken into what it\u2019s like to live in Paterson. This information will help guide Paterson One Square Mile in identifying focus areas. Paterson One Square Mile will continue listening!<\/p>\n<p>The community will have the opportunity to give input and speak into the 3-5 year plan. They can o\ufb00er feedback on the strategies proposed to move the Paterson One Square Mile initiative forward.<\/p>\n<p>As Paterson One Square Mile works to develop the plan, strategies that include easy and early wins will be included.<\/p>\n<h2>How does Paterson One Square Mile help the residents?<\/h2>\n<p>Paterson One Square Mile aims to improve the outcomes for the residents within the boundaries. Paterson One Square Mile will focus on projects and programs that will contribute to social, economic, and cultural growth.<\/p>\n<p>Enhancing educational opportunities for students and families from the Eastside Full Service Community Schools, by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing access to healthcare services<\/li>\n<li>College readiness preparation<\/li>\n<li>Creating workforce development training and job opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Paterson One Square Mile wants to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Foster a sense of ownership and pride among the community.<\/li>\n<li>Develops mutual trust and respect with government leaders and local law enforcement to create a secure and supportive environment for the Paterson community.<\/li>\n<li>Provide hope, services, and support to inspire, and empower individuals of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, religious beliefs, and personal interests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How will you share progress on goals with the community?<\/h2>\n<p>Progress will be shared with people who have participated in giving feedback by email, and through social media by various partners.
