O-1 status is available to \u201cIndividuals with Extraordinary Ability or Achievement\u201d who possess \u201cextraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics,\u201d or who have \u201ca demonstrated record of extraordinary achievement in the motion picture or television industry\u201d and national or international recognition for those achievements.<\/p>\n
The O-1 categories as defined by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services are:<\/strong><\/p>\n According to USCIS, qualification for O-1 status requires that the beneficiary (employee\/prospective employee) \u201cdemonstrate extraordinary ability by sustained national or international acclaim\u201d and \u201cbe coming temporarily to the United States to continue work in the area of extraordinary ability.\u201d<\/p>\n The basic USCIS eligibility criteria for each of the O-1 categories is as follows:<\/p>\n The O-1 visa category is useful to individuals of \u201cextraordinary ability\u201d who are subject to INA 212(e) (the Two-Year Home-Country Physical Presence Requirement)<\/strong><\/a> due to previous time in J-1 or J-2 status and unable to meet or waive that requirement\u2014and to employees who have reached their six-year limit in H-1B status<\/a>. If you think you might be eligible for O-1 status and would like more information, please contact Elizabeth Gill, Director of International Employment and Immigration in the Office of University Counsel.<\/p>\n Please note<\/em>: 精品成人福利在线 University requires that all applications for employment-based immigration status be approved and processed by the Office of University Counsel.<\/strong><\/p>\n To allow for sufficient time for university and government processing, the O-1 process should be initiated approximately 8 months prior to the proposed employment\/O-1 start date or end date of the employee\u2019s current period of O-1 status. If a complete application package is not submitted in a timely manner, the University cannot guarantee that the application will be processed in time for the employee to start or continue work on schedule.
