\nYasemin Besen-Cassino<\/strong> \u2022 Sociology \nGender and Society Book Review<\/em> \nSociologists for Women in Society \n$15,000 \nThis award will support Dr. Besen-Cassino in the role of Book Editor for Gender & Society<\/em>, which is ranked #1 journal in the area of gender studies. This grant will provide yearly funding for operational costs of the office. As a part of this grant, Dr. Besen-Cassino will select books for review, select reviewers, edit book reviews, and prepare book reviews for publication. This grant also provides funding for an MSU graduate student to serve as an office assistant. \n<\/div>

\nMark Chopping<\/strong> \u2022 Earth and Environmental Studies \nForest and Shrub Mapping with MISR – Supplement<\/em> \nNational Aeronautics and Space Administration \n$22,330 \nThis project–funded by a subaward from the California Institute of Technology–will\u00a0map forest and shrub aboveground woody biomass and canopy structure for diverse environments, over both limited and larger areas and for multiple orbits and years, using data from the NASA\/JPL Multiangle Imaging SpectroRadiometer. \n<\/div>

\nJason Dickinson<\/strong> \u2022 Robert D. McCormick Center for Child Advocacy and Policy \nNicole Lytle<\/strong> \u2022 Robert D. McCormick Center for Child Advocacy and Policy \nWeb Based Training for Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect<\/em> \nNJ Department of Children and Families \n$15,077 \nDr. Dickinson, Dr. Lytle, and other personnel\u00a0from the McCormick Center will be responsible for creating an interactive training website for NJ state law and policy regarding mandating reporting. It will serve as an educational and training resource, with a primary focus on teachers, day care workers, and others who work directly with children. \n<\/div>

\nHolly Gera<\/strong>\u00a0\u2022 Intercollegiate Athletics \nNCAA Division III Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant<\/em> \nNational Collegiate Athletic Association \n$26,660 \nThis grant from the NCAA will support the creation of a full-time administrative internship to contribute to both sports information\/publicity and general administrative duties in the Department of Sports Publicity. \n<\/div>

\nDouglas Larkin<\/strong> \u2022 Secondary and Special Education \nSandra Adams<\/strong> \u2022 Biology \nAAAS Regional Summit on Stimulating Research and Innovation for Preservice Education of STEM Teachers in High-Needs Schools<\/em> \nAmerican Association for the Advancement of Science\/National Science Foundation \n$50,000 \nThis award supports a regional conference to better understand the successful efforts to prepare, support, and retain science teachers, which has the potential to significantly reduce science teacher turnover, and ultimately provide higher quality science instruction to students. \n<\/div>
