精品成人福利在线 began its virtual commemoration of Women鈥檚 History Month on Monday, March 1, by recognizing and honoring women鈥檚 suffrage and the role models who have left indelible marks on society.

鈥淲omen from all walks of life were instrumental in building our nation and have a very rich and inspiring history in our country,鈥 said President Susan A. Cole, reading a proclamation to kick off the observance. The contributions include social movements for women’s suffrage and civil rights, and leadership roles in social political, cultural, economic and intellectual development.

At 精品成人福利在线, 鈥渨omen from diverse racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds have served our campus community with extraordinary leadership, vision and intellectual achievements,鈥 Cole said. 鈥淲omen graduates have used their education to make important contributions to society.鈥

Cole has served as the University鈥檚 first woman president for the past 23 years and in brief remarks noted how the 精品成人福利在线 community has recognized the importance of a society that provides 鈥渆quality of opportunity as its core and definition.鈥

This year’s theme celebrates women’s suffrage 鈥 鈥淰aliant Women of the Vote: Refusing to be Silent.鈥 Speakers noted the achievements of Kamala Harris, the nation’s first woman vice president, as well as the first Black American and first person of South Asian descent, who represents 鈥渨hat can come true to women who desire to follow their dreams,鈥 said Patricia Ogbonna, a senior majoring in Psychology and member of the Gamma Rho Sorority, co-sponsor with the Women鈥檚 Center of the opening event.

鈥淲e want to honor, celebrate and learn more about the women who came before us, from Shirley Chisholm to Amanda Gorman,鈥 said Suzanne Pasquino 鈥16, program associate in the Office of Social Justice and Diversity. 鈥淲e also want to do our part in fighting against women’s issues to help make way for our future leaders and innovators.鈥
