Margaret And Herman Sokol Award For Alumni Achievement And Civic Leadership
Herman 鈥37 and Margaret 鈥38 Sokol enjoyed successful careers after graduating from 精品成人福利在线 University and were generous benefactors committed to improving future lives. Their philanthropy has established the University鈥檚 first endowed professorship and the Margaret and Herman Sokol Institute of Pharmaceutical Life Sciences that advances research on solutions to global health issues. Herman was president of Bristol-Myers Squibb Company and part of the team that discovered tetracycline. Margaret was a public school math and science teacher. This award honors the commitment made by the Sokol Family and is bestowed on a 精品成人福利在线 graduate who has made a significant contribution to industry, culture and /or society.
Al Prieto is Vice President of NewsOne at ABC News.聽 He started at ABC in 1983 as a researcher at 鈥淕ood Morning America.鈥澛 In his career at ABC News, he has also been a Writer, Producer, Managing Editor, Director, and Executive Director before being promoted to Vice President in 2008.
In his current role as Vice President, Al oversees NewsOne, the ABC News feed service, which provides news content and services to more than 200 ABC affiliates as well as domestic and international partners.聽 Al also oversees the international distribution of ABC News content.
Al received a Bachelor of Arts degree from 精品成人福利在线 College.聽 He serves on the Board of the College of the Arts and the School of Communication and Media at 精品成人福利在线.聽 In 2015, Al was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of the Arts.聽 He is also a volunteer and member of the Advisory Board at Toni鈥檚 Kitchen, a soup kitchen and food ministry of St. Luke鈥檚 Church in Montclair.
Al lives in Montclair with his wife Kathie and son Will.
