Configure Montclair Syllabus in Canvas

Starting Spring 2025, “Montclair Syllabus” (Simple Syllabus) will be the only syllabus tool available to faculty in Canvas courses. The native Canvas syllabus tool will not be available in Spring 2025 courses and future terms. It will be available for Fall 2024 and prior term courses.

Note:聽Selecting “All Content” when copying a Canvas course will copy the course menu layout. If you were not previously using 鈥淢ontclair Syllabus,鈥 it will become hidden. To prevent this from happening, use the “Select Specific Content” option for your course copy and then do not select “Settings” for copying. This ensures 鈥淢ontclair Syllabus鈥 does not become hidden.

Enable Montclair Syllabus in Your Course From Course Navigation

狈辞迟别:听“Montclair Syllabus” is a default menu item. Only use these instructions if “Montclair Syllabus” becomes disabled in your course.

  1. Click on Settings in the course navigation.
  2. Click on the Navigation tab.
  3. Locate 鈥淢ontclair Syllabus鈥 under the section 鈥淒rag items here to hide them from students鈥 at the bottom of the page.
  4. Click on the 3 dots and choose Enable.

You can also move 鈥淢ontclair Syllabus鈥 to the top of the navigation menu to make it easier for students to find by clicking and dragging.

Make sure to click Save to save the new settings.
